Charlotte Curtis
Sickle Cycle Founder and President
Charlotte Curtis is an advocate and strategist with a passion for community engagement and policy. At birth, she was diagnosis with Sickle Cell Disease (SC). In May 2017, she founded Sickle Cycle to raise awareness for sickle cell disease and address the systemic inequities affecting the SCD community.
A former Presidential appointee in the Obama administration, she led national public engagement efforts on key policy issues. Her career bridges international policy work in federal agencies and local government. She has a strong track record in workforce development and employee engagement.
Charlotte holds a B.A. in International Studies from Spelman College, an M.P.A. from Northeastern University, and a Certificate in Strategic Management from Georgetown University.
She lives in Washington, DC with her husband and two daughters that both have Sickle Cell Trait.
Justina Towns
Sickle Cycle Secretary
Justina Towns is an Executive Business Partner with a passion for empowering people to accelerate. Her experience in international affairs and consulting industries has provided her with over 15 years of expertise in organizational management. She's been recognized for excellence in maintaining key stakeholder relationships, being a trusted partner to senior executives and modeling adaptability.
Justina graduated from Spelman College with a Bachelor of Arts and Towson University with a Master of Science.
Ryann Watkins
Sickle Cycle Treasurer
Ryann Watkins is a senior economist at the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics in Washington, DC. She leads high impact analytical work that supports federal policymakers and strengthens the nation's understanding of labor market dynamics. She received her Master’s Degree in Applied Economics in 2016 from the University of Maryland and her Bachelor’s Degree in Economics in 2009, also from the University of Maryland. She’s a native of Philadelphia, PA and currently resides in the Washington, DC area.
